HBO’s “Game of Thrones” finally wrapped up its sprawling story back in 2019 with Season 8 determining the fate of Westeros. Between White Walkers, undead dragons, and Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) fiery rage, fans should have been pleased with the final season… but the outcome was exactly the opposite. Critics and audiences alike were largely disappointed by how Season 8 ended, and it currently has a 50% critic rating and a 30% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But the show is one of the biggest pop culture behemoths to emerge in the last decade, so it’s not surprising that HBO wants to stay in the “Game of Thrones” business.
Soon, it’ll be time to return to Westeros for “House of the Dragon,” which is set 200 years before the main series and tells the story of House Targaryen, one of the most infamous Houses in the show’s timeline. If you thought one Targaryen caused chaos with three dragons in “Game of Thrones,” just wait until there’s a whole family of dragonriders. Thankfully, HBO Max has revealed the first “House of the Dragon” trailer, and it’s pretty dramatic.
