The official Indian Twitter account for Marvel Studios reveals the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Blade movie is reportedly releasing in October 2022. First created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, the titular hero made his debut as a supporting character in 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula No. 10 before leading his own comic line. Blade is a dhampir who uses his superhuman and daywalker abilities to hunt down and rid the world of vampires.

Blade would first be adapted for the big screen with the Wesley Snipes-led 1998 film, whose box office success would spawn both a trilogy and revitalize Marvel’s film efforts. The first sequel, Guillermo del Toro’s Blade II, would see a similar box office smash and equally mixed critical reception while the threequel would deliver poor reviews and a modest financial return, effectively ending Snipes’ series. Marvel Studios would regain the rights to the character in 2012 and announced development on an MCU-set film at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con with Mahershala Ali starring and would land writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Bassam Tariq earlier this year.
